About Us

Nerida Glanfield opened Allegro Dance and Yoga in January 2010, and she teaches every class held at the studio.

Nerida has been teaching dance for 20 years and yoga for 7 years.

From Kalgoorlie, Nerida’s studio Dance Boutique enjoyed great success. Her students have scored top marks in their exams, won local dance competitions including Most Promising Dancer of the annual Dance Out Festival, and placed at competitions including the West Coast Dance Festival and the Mandurah Dance Festival.

Former student Jane Blacker achieved great success in 2010, winning “Most Promising Novice” at the Mandurah Performing Arts Festival with routines choreographed by Nerida. Jane was the only performer from regional WA to successfully audition for Glee Club Australia, and in December performed at various venues in Los Angeles including Disneyland and Universal Studios.

Master teacher Baron Baptiste has been the main influence on Nerida’s yoga practice, and she has attended yoga teacher training with Baron in the United States several times over the past few years, starting with Level 1 Teacher Training in Hawaii in February 2008. In 2009, she undertook a 16 day intensive Teacher Training with the Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga Institute and Level 2 Teacher Training in August/September 2010. Most recently, Nerida undertook further teacher training with Baron in February 2013.

Nerida describes these experiences as, “an absolute pressure cooker where Baron squeezes every drop of resistence out of you. Then you can achieve your own highest level of yoga practice and personal enlightenment, while continually increasing your knowledge of teaching and sharing yoga with others.”

Nerida has a Bachelor of Arts (Arts Management) from the WA Academy of Performing Arts and was Manager of the Goldfields Arts Centre in Kalgoorlie for 12 years from 1996 – 2008.
